the sky grew dark
and the rain fell down,
and I sat in my car
and didn't turn the wipers on.
the world was a blur,
and my heart was a stone.
my phone sat beside me,
but I didn't call anyone.
and the sky stayed dark,
and the rain fell down.
and I knew that my heart
was wrong, so wrong.
and I drove back home,
and the world moved slow.
and I know life is beautiful
and rain makes things grow.
and maybe it should be enough
to know about God's love,
but I'm soaking in the broken
and you are not warm.
and He won't let me down
but you did, and I'm trying
to do the right thing,
but right now it still stings.
Rain in the Bible after the flood is always, I think, a blessing. Often we don't feel the blessing at the time but the ways God leads us are always best.
